While I personally don't headcanon Val as romance-repulsed, I loved reading this and considering how he would be if he was. Romance is definitely a tool he uses to pick up some of his victims, after all, so it would be something he has forced himself through, probably because of thinking himself as broken.
My own discovery of the aro spectrum wasn't dramatic at all, because I didn't think too much of the topic at all. I'm definitely more romance-neutral. So I felt for Val, but I resonated with Velvette. Valentines? I want to do this other stuff! I don't often resonate myself with Velvette, but in this fic I really did and it made me super happy.
